Martinborough, Wairarapa, New Zealand
As graduates of Geisenheim University Viticulture & Oenology, Germany, Kai Schubert and Marion Deimling set on their mission to produce the best Pinot Noir in the world. The German duo scoured through many lands around the world to find the perfect plot but nothing stuck until they reached New Zealand. Enamored with Martinborough region, they established Schubert Wines in 1998 and from there, became one of the most prolific Pinot winemakers of New Zealand, if not, the world. As a fully certified organic winery in 2013, Schubert Wines astounds the wine scene with its quality wines, collecting many awards along the way! A 93+ score for both the 2013 Marion’s Vineyard and Block B Pinot Noirs in Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. And most notably, 2013 Marion’s Vineyard was one out of seven rated as “Outstanding” (95-97 points) during a Decanter Magazine panel tasting (of 172 NZ Pinots tasted). We say to that – mission accomplished!
