Stellenbosch, South Africa
Travel to South Africa and you’ll see it’s a country full of adventure, romance and stunning scenery, and Stellenrust epitomises all of that in every bottle! Formed in 1928, the picturesque estate is located in Stellenbosch region near Cape Town. Half of its vineyard is within the Golden Triangle area (globally renowned for the best red wine soil in the country) and the rest is high up in Bottelary Hills.
Stellenrust comes from a long lineage of winemakers in the family and in fact, is one of the largest family-owned wine estates in South Africa! It’s an estate that celebrates the rich history of winemaking in the region (dating all the way back to late 1600s) while blending modernity to the trade to create their distinctive and award-winning wines.
Today, owners Tertius Boshoff (cellar master) and Kobie van der Westhuizen (viticulturist) say it's their passion that keeps them going – even through times like an incredibly challenging 2022 harvest. Together they put forth a great deal of effort to preserve quality and maintain their high standards, cherishing old vines that never cease to surprise and a cellar ripe with wild yeast barrel fermentations.
Stellenrust's Barrel Fermented Chenin Blanc is one that has received many accolades including Top 100 South African Wines – 2019 Classification, White Wine of the Year – Platter 2017 and Gold – International Wine Challenge 2017!
