For Reg and Bertina Egan, life is about great wine and family. It was a dream come true in 1963 when Wantirna Estate began in Yarra Valley. Reg became a hands-on vine pruner and winemaker, while still managing his legal practice. Fast-forward to recent decades, their daughter Maryann takes on the reigns and continues Reg’s passion, crafting limited (1,000 cases per year!), premium wines. Today, Wantirna Estate is one of the top wineries in the region. Reg and Bertina, now as doting grandparents, have lovingly named their wines after their four granddaughters, each with a cartoon on the label depicting their unique personalities.
