Growing up, it’s all about not being on Santa’s naughty list at the end of the year! We used to work so hard to be good to not be on the list. But now that we’ve grown up, we work our butts off to…you got it…get on the lists. Every year as we get closer to the festive season, we hold our breaths to see the latest top 100 wines announcement by different wine critics. This year is no exception with James Halliday as he releases his 2021 Top 100 with not just one but five of our wineries on his list (yay Ma, we made it!)!
The wines below are now currently listed under ‘Top Reds Under AUD40’ and they are readily available on Wine Please!:
Ministry of Clouds McLaren Vale Grenache 2020
"Vivid, clear colour; the scented, spicy, flowery bouquet leads a red berry/cherry/piquant palate, savoury elements increasing overall complexity.” (96 pts)
Bleasdale Mulberry Tree Langhorne Creek Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
“…cassis is the first and last impression of the bouquet and palate respectively, albeit with plenty of dried bay leaf and black olive.” (95 pts)
“…fresh black and red fruits undaunted by the extended time in barrel, and satisfying ripe tannins. And a gold-plated bargain.” (94 pts)
Our lovely Yeringberg and Hewitson were also noted in having their wines on the ‘Top Reds over AUD40’ and ‘Top Whites Under AUD30’ lists too.
What an achievement for our wineries and a fabulous way to end 2021 on a high! Well done, once again. For those who haven’t tried the wines above, here’s your lucky day – browse here to snag a few bottles!
In the end, some lists are worth working for! 😊
