We all know that any bottle from Charles Heidsieck is exceptional but only certain ones are legendary. And when the legend’s been found, it must be celebrated! Blanc des Millénaires is such cuvée and since 1983, there has only been six vintages ever made. The stars are surely aligned for us because lucky 7th vintage has been released! This sparkler is a reflection of an unusual and surprising year; coming from a cooler vintage than its predessor (2006), it’s cheekily youthful, yet fine and delicate, with a huge potential to evolve with more time. Even Charles Heidsieck’s very own Master Cellar, Cyril Brun, said, “It’s dangerous”…dangerously good! The chalky minerality from Côte des Blancs is distinct, while sourdough, flint and notes of toast, smoke and honey layer through. Allow some aeration and the freshness from citrus, grapefruit, yuzu and quince come through. While the mousse is discreet (yet persistent), you can expect lively acidity with a rounded mouthfeel. Savour the taste of lemon meringue pie with a hint of salinity and a long finish. A truly spectacular bottle – we recommend popping this bottle for a special seafood dish like langoustines with lemongrass butter!
