Named for the coal seam mined during the New Zealand gold rush – which lies beneath Carrick's vineyards – Excelsior Bannockburn Pinot Noir is a single-vineyard wine of limited production, only 1,872 bottles made! The wine was created from hand-selected grapes as well as careful barrel selection. Powerful but fresh with delightful aromas of toast, vanilla and chocolate and gorgeous flavours of cherry, dark chocolate, allspice, raspberry coulis and blackberry. Balanced, intense and weighty on the palate but with a distinct lightness, with powdery tannins and a long finish. If you're able to resist drinking this gem now, it will age brilliantly for 10+ years!

Here's how to interpret the ratings (in case you were wondering what's that number below the price). If you don't see a rating, it doesn't mean the wine is any less yummy. At the end of the day, wine is meant to be enjoyed and shared.
