Blanc des Millénaires doesn’t happen often in the house of Charles Heidsieck. Only crème de la crème vintages are considered and even then, not many reach that level of excellence! Produced only from some of the best Chardonnays from Côtes de Blanc and bottle aged for a long period of time in their unique thousand-year-old Crayères (Charles’ chalk cellar and the house’s fourth varietal - time), this 2006 blanc de blancs showcases finesse, minerality and brilliance. The gorgeously beautiful 2006 is their sixth Blanc des Millénaires vintage. Noted as the ‘sunny’ vintage with its deep golden colour and glints of light green (like rays of sunshine!), this wine entices your senses with violet, lemon blossom and acacia aromas with hints of blood orange, pine and rosemary. Give it a swirl and it charms you with fresh pineapple, apricot, fig and date with a touch of honeycomb. Pure, fleshy and textural in the mouth with its attractive mousse. Enjoy the minerality initially and as it evolves, be seduced by its creamy nougat, brioche, citrus and poached apricot. Hints of oyster shell, toasted nuts with a light whipped creamy finish. Indulge in this beauty and pair it with a plateaux de fruits de mer or caviar blini’s topped with quail eggs.
