Cairanne, France
Rhone Valley is full of history and gorgeous hideaways but we must say that Domaine de L’Ameillaud is one of their best kept secret! Nestled in Cairanne (upgraded to Cru status in 2016 – yay!), a small village east of Rhone River, L’Ameillaud has been quietly producing excellent wines for generations. Behind this enigmatic winery is husband-wife duo, Nick and Sabine Thompson. Originally owned by Sabine’s grandfather, the couple took over in 1983 and carved out a niche with their approachable and expressive wines. With the fantastic Mediterranean climate, maritime-influenced soil types and their focus on sustainable farming, it’s no wonder L’Ameillaud is continually sought-after by vinophiles in the know!
