The Grasso family has been cultivating grapes and crafting wine since 1927, but it wasn’t until 1980 that their reputation as producers of sophisticated, modern Barolos truly took flight! It was at this time that current owner/winemaker Federico Grasso began bottling and releasing his wines to the public. Originally established by Silvio Grasso, today the estate is run by Federico, Marilena and their two sons, Silvio and Paolo.
Today, the family produce six different Baroli: a traditionally made wine and single vineyard versions from the Giachini and Plicotti crus; a barrel-fermented Barbera; a traditional juicy Barbera; a pretty and youthful Dolcetto; and two different versions of Nebbiolo. The estate’s vineyards are situated within the prestigious commune of La Morra in Piedmont, Italy, run using natural agricultural practices.
