Yarran

Riverina, Australia

Established amongst the vines with the release of their first Shiraz in 1998, Yarran is a small boutique winery sitting proudly on the outskirts of Yenda in the Riverina wine region of New South Wales. When Lorraine and (the late) John Brewer purchased the property in 1978, and the family began to re-develop what was once an old fruit farm into the beautiful vineyards, releasing their first vintage 20 years later. Today, their son Sam Brewer at the helm of the brand.

The name Yarran is an Aboriginal word meaning Acacia tree, a native species that grows abundantly through the region and surrounds the vineyards – a grateful nod to the land, history and culture they're immersed in and an acknowledgement of the traditional custodians of the land, the Wiradjuri people.

"A tiny winery in a region of giants", Yarran was named 2021 ‘Darkhorse Winery of the Year’ by Australian Wine Companion. Crafting award-winning wines with sustainable practices at the forefront of each vintage, as of 2024 the vineyards are currently in the process of undergoing organic conversion, set to be fully organic within the next few years!
