Decanter World Wine Awards is kind of a big deal in the wine world. Not only it is the world’s largest and most influential wine competition (18th year running), it’s also the gold standard that everyone in the wine biz looks up to. So, how can we not jump for joy and blow the horns when one of our very own gets their top recognition?!
Charles Heidsieck was well awarded during the event this year. Of the 18,094 wines tasted blind from 56 countries, their Rosé Réserve was the only rosé champagne bestowed the title, Best of Show, AND rated 97 points! On top of that, Charles Heidsieck’s Blanc de Blancs was also rated 97 points and placed in the Platinum category. What a triumph!
Other wines from their portfolio were also rated 90+:
- Blanc de Millénaires Brut 2006 94 points
- Rosé Millesime 2008 93 points
- Brut Réserve 91 points
With the judges calling the Rosé Réserve a “pink festival…with its cavalier autumn fruits and audacity of flavour..[and]…one of the most memorable”, and describing the Blanc de Blancs, “seductive toasty, ginger and Seville orange…[with] so much elegance, life and eloquence”, who could resist having a bottle?
All this deliciousness is in hand at Wine Please! so you can keep ‘Charlie-ing’ all summer long!
