Sometimes when it rains, it pours. In Margan Wine’s case, it’s pouring with…awards! Not only did Andrew Margan snagged the Winemaker of the Year at the recent 2021 Hunter Valley Legend Awards, their in-house winemaker, Nicole Brasier, received the Rising Star of the Year as well. These awards recognize excellence and the top-echelon in the wine industry of this region. Needless to say, Margan Wines is impressively showing who’s “the boss” in their trade in Hunter Valley!
From the legendary man, Andrew Margan, himself, “In the 25th year of Margan and with 50 vintages under my belt, I have finally won the title of Hunter Valley Winemaker of the Year. It can take a long time to become an overnight success!...It is a competitive wine world and every winemaker needs to keep getting better at what they do, and I think we are making better wines than we have in the 25 years history of Margan. The wines I make are true reflections of our unique piece of the Hunter Valley, here in Broke Fordwich.”
Nicole Brasier joined Margan as their winemaker in 2017 and she’s been making waves in the business as well as in the region ever since. Although she couldn’t be present at the awards ceremony, she is thrilled with the accolade and “…very humbled to be recognised for my achievements over the past four years at Margan. We have a lot of exciting projects on the go in the winery and vineyard, so it is a great time to be here and involved in all these initiatives. The winery and vineyard teams work with pride and passion to keep innovating and I feel incredibly lucky to work with such an inspiring group of people.”
We can’t wait to see what comes next from Margan Wines. Until more intel is released on their new exciting projects, we’ll just have to keep savouring their fruits of labour. Well done again, Margan!
